Exploring Seoul for the First Time 🇰🇷 | A Cabin Crew Layover Adventure

Imagine finally getting your dream cabin crew layover in Seoul after months of trying—and then realizing you have a tiny amount of time to experience an absolutely enormous city. No pressure! Just enough time to eat everything, shop until your suitcase complains, visit palaces, and somehow squeeze in a fireworks festival.

This first trip to Seoul was basically a speed-run through South Korea, and every minute was worth it.

Starting the Adventure in Gangnam

The adventure started in Gangnam, where the streets were buzzing with energy and modern Seoul was on full display. A stop at COEX Starfield Library was next, and this place felt less like an ordinary library and more like someone had built a giant bookshelf inside a futuristic shopping center.

Not far away, Bongeunsa Temple offered a completely different atmosphere. After all the city lights and busy streets, the peaceful temple grounds were a lovely reminder that Seoul has a wonderfully unexpected mix of old and new.

Stepping Back in Time at Seoul’s Historic Sites

Then came the historic side of the city. Visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace while wearing a traditional hanbok made the experience feel even more special. Walking around the palace grounds dressed in traditional Korean clothing was basically an excuse to take approximately 7,000 photos.

From there, the journey continued through Bukchon Hanok Village, with its traditional houses and charming narrow streets. It was one of those places where practically every corner looked ready to become someone’s phone wallpaper.

Eating and Shopping Through Seoul

Of course, no Seoul trip would be complete without food. Korean BBQ delivered exactly what was expected: sizzling meat, delicious side dishes, and the difficult decision of when you’ve officially eaten enough. Spoiler: apparently there is no such thing.

Then came Myeongdong, where shopping became a serious activity. Between the night markets and Olive Young, K-beauty lovers could easily lose track of time and possibly their entire budget.

A quick visit to Seongsu added another trendy stop before the grand finale: the Seoul International Fireworks Festival. Watching the sky explode with color over the city was the perfect ending to an already unforgettable layover.

A First Visit Worth Remembering

For a first visit, Seoul certainly didn’t disappoint. It was fast, delicious, colorful, exhausting, and completely unforgettable. Between modern attractions, historic landmarks, incredible food, shopping adventures, and a spectacular fireworks finale, this short layover managed to pack an enormous amount of Seoul into a very small amount of time.

And now the only question is when the next layover will be! 🇰🇷✨
